EP1-KP Electronic User Guide

Congratulations on your purchase of the Mission EP1-KP Expression Pedal. This product is designed to be intuitive to setup and operate, and to provide many years of trouble-free service. However, we recommend that you take a few moments to read through this User Guide in order to get the best possible experience with your new pedal. The Mission EP1-KP expression pedals are designed to work optimally with Kemper Profiler products. This includes the Kemper Profiler ‘toaster’ and Rack units as well as the Remote and the Stage.

The expression pedal can be used to control variable parameters such as volume, wah, pitch, and other amp and effect parameters. The EP1-KP uses one or two ¼” phone plug outputs marked OUT1 and OUT2. OUT1 is the expression pedal and OUT2 is the footswitch. The footswitch is not installed on the spring-loaded version. Connect OUT1 to a pedal input on the amplifier using a ¼” TRS-TRS cable. Connect OUT2 to a second pedal input on the amplifier using a regular ¼” TS instrument cable. Connecting OUT2 is optional and maybe omitted if the footswitch will not be used.

OUT1 requires the use of a cable with a single TRS cable at both ends. A mono TS cable or insert cable that has both TS and TRS plugs will not work. The footswitch is a quiet, momentary type. The switch will still be operating even though no audible click will be heard. The Profiler requires a momentary switch for correct operation. The expression pedal and switch functions are passive. The expression pedals do not require a separate power supply or battery. After connecting the pedals, it is necessary to configure the Profiler settings to tell it what you want the expression pedal to control.

The procedure may be slightly different depending on the specific Profiler product, and firmware version. The setup is documented in your Kemper product User Manual. Watch the videos below for examples.
