This product is designed to be intuitive to setup and operate, and to provide many years of trouble free service. However, we recommend that you take a few moments to read through this User Guide in order to get the best possible experience with your new pedal.[/vc_column_text][title text=”Background” text_align=”left”][vc_column_text]The SP-H9 is an expression pedal with integrated Aux switch control for use with the Eventide H9 Harmonizer.[/vc_column_text][title text=”Connections” text_align=”left”][vc_column_text]The SP-H9 has one 1/4″ TRS output on the left side marked OUT 1. OUT 2 is not used in this model.  Connect OUT 1 using 1/4″ TRS (stereo) cable to the EXP input on the rear of the H9.

1/4″ TRS (stereo) cables are required to use both the expression pedal and switch functions. Connecting a regular TS instrument cable will enable the expression function only.

When using a TRS cable, the LED on the front of the SP-H9 should illuminate when the H9 is powered on. If the LED does not light, check that you are using a TRS cable and that the cable is not damaged and correctly connected. The LED will not light when using a regular TS instrument cable and the aux switch functions will not be available.

To use a remote aux switch, connect a momentary TS switch to the INPUT on the SP-H9 with a 1/4″ TS instrument cable. When using a remote aux switch, both the on board toe switch and the remote aux switch will operate in parallel. They appear to the H9 as a single switch. It is currently not possible to configure the H9 for the two switches to control different functions.

Aux switches should be TS, Momentary, Normally Open (NO). Mission recommends the MXR M199 Tap Tempo pedal.[/vc_column_text][title text=”Power” text_align=”left”][vc_column_text]The expression pedal and switch functions are passive, and the SP-H9 does not require a power supply or battery. Power for the LED is provided to the expression pedal by the H9 when using a TRS cable.[/vc_column_text][title text=”Configuration” text_align=”left”][vc_column_text]After connecting the pedals, it is necessary to configure the H9 settings to tell it what you want the expression pedal and switch to control. This can be done using the on-board pedal menus, or via a USB or wireless connected Mac, PC or mobile device using the H9 Control software.

Setup is documented in the Eventide H9 User Guide. Watch the step by step videos on installing and configuring the H9 control software in this electronic user guide for more information.[/vc_column_text][title text=”FAQ” text_align=”left”][vc_toggle title=”Can I use an SP-H9 and three aux switches?” el_id=”1476643080597-d81b4b24-b6c2″]The EXP input on the H9 supports one expression pedal and one aux switch, OR three aux switches. It does not support an expression pedal AND three switches. You cannot use the SP-H9 and a three way switch at the same time, at least not via the EXP input. If you need to connect multiple switches and expression pedals to the H9 at the same time, it is recommended to use a MIDI controller.

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I use an SP-H9 with multiple H9’s?” el_id=”1476643509992-2b4b15da-38ba”]The SP-H9 connects to one H9 via the EXP input. If you wish to share a single expression pedal between more than one H9, it is recommended to use Expressionator or a MIDI controller. Note that in this case you would use an expression pedal compatible with Expressionator or the MIDI controller. The SP-H9 is intended only for connection directly to the EXP input on a single H9.

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Will the SP-H9 work as a volume pedal?” el_id=”1477715296519-2e98166a-2b70″]The SP-H9 is an expression pedal, not an in line volume pedal, and you cannot connect an instrument to it. However, the H9 can be configured to map the expression pedal to input or output volume. Input volume controls the level before the effect preserving reverb tails and echo repeats when the volume is at zero. With output volume selected, the expression pedal will behave more like a master volume control.

Mapping the expression pedal to control volume can be done in H9 Control in the Pedal Settings menu.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”The H9 Display only goes to 50″ el_id=”1484245599569-87be5eef-3f23″]Make sure that the expression pedal is connected to the H9 before it is powered on. If the display still only shows 50 at toe down, ensure that the expression pedal remains connected, then remove and replace the power cable to the H9 to allow it to reboot. The display should now go between 0 and 100. If the display still shows 50 at full toe down, remove the 1/4″ expression pedal cable from the H9 for a few seconds and then replace it.

Note that sometimes the span may show 1 instead of 0, or 99 instead of 100. This is normal an will not change the operation of the effect.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”The switch does not click, is it broken?” el_id=”1484246898402-c5967b7b-8eb7″]The toe switch on the SP-H9 is a soft-touch, quiet momentary switch and will not click when depressed. This is by design, and the switch is still functioning.

To test switch function, configure the H9 in accordance with the instructions so that the toe switch performs a function such as activating the tuner or enabling repeats. Check that the function works as expected when activating the switch. Note that the switch will still not make a click, but the H9 will respond as configured.[/vc_toggle][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][title text=”Safety Instructions” text_align=”left”][vc_column_text]Read, Keep & Follow these instructions
